Tell us about TalentRise. When was the company founded and what was the driving force?

TalentRise was established in 2008 as an incubated recruitment and talent business within MavenWave Partners, a Cloud Tech Solutions consulting firm. Initially, TalentRise served MavenWave's talent needs and weathered the economic recession, later expanding to serve external clients in 2010. The company focused on assisting businesses facing industry disruption, organizational change, and growth through M&A. By 2018, TalentRise had built a $10M recruiting business, and in February 2019, it was acquired by Aleron Inc., narrowing its services to early and growth-stage startup leadership recruiting, assessment, coaching & development at the Director to C-level (CXO) across all business functions, with Viaduct, a subsidiary, serving recruiting needs below the leadership level.

Ideally, what does the next 5 years look like for TalentRise?

Over the next five years, we seek to position TalentRise as the "First Call" for leadership talent recruitment, coaching, and development serving startup tech (SaaS, Fintech, Medtech, IOT / MFGTech) VC and PE investors and entrepreneurs in Buffalo, New York, Chicago, Illinois, Austin, Texa and Toronto, Canada.

What role does community play in the work that TalentRise does?

Being part of a community like TeamWorking by TechNexus has been absolutely incredible since we joined this year. Being around like-minded people who all share a passion for helping startups grow and succeed, and who seek to collaborate openly to achieve this shared goal, is what motivates me to get up each day. I love what I do and now when I come to the office, I look forward to attending and contributing to the events, networking, and sharing resources with my TeamWorking colleagues.

TalentRise's website tells your business approach as "Talent Optimization". Has this changed over time? If so, how?

Talent Optimization is a business philosophy that remains core to our service delivery approach. It is built on the idea that if you align a company's business and talent strategies, and support that alignment with technology-driven data insights, the performance of individuals, teams, and the overall business will improve exponentially over time. We view our client work as holistic and long-term, not transactional, and therefore this philosophy is timeliness and applicable to any company seeking to meet and exceed growth and revenue targets for their investors.

What has been the most challenging part of working in your field?

The most challenging part of our work is differentiating our work and value proposition from the many other firms who say they do what we do, ...but we do it way better. We are 1000% quality and client experience focused and stand behind our work which is why we include in our search fees, talent assessments, and a 90-day executive onboarding coach with every executive hire. This helps to ensure as much as possible, that our client has made an informed decision using data-driven behavioral assessment insights, and that their new hire is set for a successful "fast start" ramp-up to full productivity in their new role.
