Tell us about Ocient. When was the company founded and what was the driving force?
Ocient was founded in 2016 with the mission of providing hyperscale data
solutions for the enterprise. Ocient's solutions are designed to help
businesses analyze trillions of data records in real or near-real time.
The driving force behind Ocient's inception was the increasing demand for
hyperscale data analytics solutions by customers. With enterprises having
more and more data to collect, they need solutions that can help them
analyze that data quickly, efficiently, and with reduced cost requirements --
which is what Ocient is designed to address.
Ocient's website reads "Our hyperscale data solutions are underpinned by
core values that embody what we stand for as individuals and a collective." Tell us more about what that means and why it's important.
Ocient’s core values are key drivers of our teams’ goals and shared successes. A large part of our workforce is remote, and we therefore put even more emphasis on our company values to ensure we’re working and collaborating in a way that will drive us forward as a business and a brand and create the best solutions for our customers.
We focus on leadership at all levels and pride ourselves on being customer-
focused, inclusive and collaborative, efficiently effective, and craft-driven in the way we work and operate. In our field, being trustworthy and ethical are also values we bake into everything we do at Ocient.

Building and maintaining hyperscale data solutions is the ultimate team sport. It’s collaborative work that is like running a long-distance race with no finish line.
One insight that we hear from customers all the time is that while technology
presents challenges, it’s the people that always make a difference between
success or failure of a project.
What does the next 5 years look like for Ocient?
We’re excited about what’s ahead for Ocient! In the next five years, we’re
planning to further innovate and develop new solutions that meet the needs
of our growing customer base, including in industries such as geospatial,
AI/ML and operational IT. We’ll also continue growing our team of industry experts and bring more top talent folks onto teams like sales, customer solutions, and marketing in the US and abroad.
What role does community play in the work that Ocient does?
Community plays a vital role in the work that we do at Ocient. Our teams are
committed to building strong relationships with customers and partners, because we know these relationships are essential to our success. Another part of what makes the Ocient community so special is that it’s made up of people from around the world. These folks come from all sorts of backgrounds and have varied life experiences, but they’re all united by their passion for helping customers use the data around them to pursue new opportunities and innovate in their given industry.
In addition to the community we’ve built up with our customers, partners, and teams at Ocient, we’re also committed to the communities Ocienteers are a part of where they call home, including right here in Chicago. It’s important to me and the Ocient team that we support and give back to the communities that support us, and we do this in a few different ways.

ii. Supported the growth of the tech industry in Chicago through our
relationships with P33 and Code2040
iii. Restored natural habitats for wildlife at The Forge in Lemont
